Scientific Consultant (Chemistry/Complex fluids)

Job description

Electric Ant Lab (EAL) is hiring for a Scientific Consultant, with expertise in chemistry and complex fluids. This is a real chance to be at the forefront of the transition towards a more digital R&D.

What will your job at EAL look like?

In line with the rapid growth of EAL we are expanding our Scientific Team. This team is responsible for our client’s satisfaction and the scientific testing of RheoCube. RheoCube offers the first simulation platform designed for experimental scientists. For many this is the first time they are running simulations and it is your responsibility as a Scientific Consultant to help clients get the most out of it. Next to client relationships you will also join in on sales calls; lending your expertise to help our future clients understand what RheoCube could do for them.
On the science side, you will be responsible for in-depth scientific testing of the models that our Modeling Team creates. Part of your role will be to translate client needs to model development goals, helping our Modeling Team to understand what experimental data is generally available. In overall, you will have a very dynamic, interactive role where no two weeks will be the same.

Our new Scientific Consultant will ideally have a passion for creative problem solving and will be able to work autonomously as well as within a team. You love to interact with new people and get energy from a diverse work week. We are specifically looking for chemists with an experimental background in the area of complex fluid flow (eg. emulsion formation, suspension rheology, etc). Experience in the chemical industry or with scientific simulations is a prerequisite.

About Electric Ant Lab

EAL is a VC-backed simulation software company located at Amsterdam Science Park. Chemistry-focused R&D scientists at large corporations are a key part of our customer base. Our primary product is RheoCube: a cloud-based virtual lab and simulation platform. It is designed to offer a researcher-friendly alternative to the physical lab approach of trial-and-error, often used for prototyping new products and for applied material research.

What's in it for you?

EAL is a young company where everybody has the freedom to fulfill their role in a fashion that fits their expertise and way of working. In general, we trust your professional opinion and allow you to work autonomously, and this open approach has become part of our DNA. All EAL colleagues (see EAL LinkedIn) are independent professionals who take pride in applying their expertise to their responsibilities, and collaborate well with colleagues. We offer an open, trusting culture with a fast-paced, dynamic working environment. Of course you will receive a competitive salary and all the practical amenities you'd expect from a workplace in 2021.

Some international travel (~10% ) will be part of this role, once we can safely do so again.
